Wren: The Man Who Built Britain
TV Special
Docu-drama in which journalist Michael Buerk traces the life story of Christopher Wren, revealing how a skilful exploitation of London's Great Fire and brilliant manipulation of Charles II fuelled his ambition to design the most modern capital city in Europe. Ultimately, it was his talent for deception and cunning that allowed Wren to see St Paul's Cathedral - arguably his most famous creation - completed before his death. Hugh Bonneville takes the lead role, portraying the renowned architect, artist, mathematician, anatomist and scientist from youth to old age, with Benjamin Whitrow, Elizabeth Spriggs and Oliver Ford Davies
