  • Brazil v China

Brazil v China (Kick-off 12.30pm). USA 94 champions Brazil struggled in qualifying and : despite turning on the style : needed a late penalty to beat Turkey in the opening game. They will, however, be confident of taking a giant step towards the second round with a convincing win over a Chinese side who displayed bags of passion but little attacking flair against Costa Rica on Tuesday. Plus, highlights of Italy v Croatia and South Africa v Slovenia. Introduced by Desmond Lynam, with commentary from Peter Drury and David Pleat

They will, however, be confident of bagging three points this morning against unfancied Saudi Arabia, who proved their status as group minnows in some style by losing 8-0 to Germany. Commentary by Guy Mowbray and Jim Beglin

  • Costa Rica v Turkey

Costa Rica v Turkey (Kick-off 10.00am). The CONCACAF qualifying group winners take on Group C rivals the Turks at the Incheon Munhak Stadium in South Korea. Presented by Desmond Lynam, with commentary by Clive Tyldesley and Ron Atkinson. Subsequent programmes subject to change

Introduced by Desmond Lynam, with commentary by Peter Drury, Clive Tyldesley and Ron Atkinson

A place in Friday afternoon's quarter-final is at stake for the winner this morning, while for the loser it will be a long flight home. Three-time winners Germany have looked comfortable in reaching the last 16, but will be aware they'll need to step up a gear if they are to beat the South Americans who reached the knockout-phase thanks to a late rally against Slovenia on Wednesday. Presented by Desmond Lynam and Gabby Logan. Subsequent programmes subject to change

With Del Piero, Totti, Vieri and Delvecchio among the choices up front for the three-times winners, Ecuador are likely to have their hands full at the back, and they won't find it easy going forward either, against the country with one of the best defences in the modern game.
