Synopsis:
Andrew Davies's adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's comic novel, starring Justine Waddell. Victorian country doctor's daughter Molly Gibson's life is thrown into turmoil by her father's decision to remarry, and her fate becomes entwined with those of Squire Hamley, his ailing wife and their sons Osborne and Roger.
