The cutbacks lead to the Major Crimes Unit being disbanded and a disillusioned McNulty is sent back to Homicide, while the recently promoted Carver has to deal with discontent from his officers about unpaid overtime. Meanwhile, city editor Gus Haynes and the staff of the Baltimore Sun newspaper look into a story linking a politician to a drug dealer
