  Jeff's sordid secret is revealed : he's been hosting swingers' evenings : but despite Mary and Angela's disapproval, they soon find themselves clamouring to be invited. Meanwhile, the villagers are left to mourn the disappearance of local boatman Old Jake, whose clothes are found washed up on the beach : a discovery that prompts a fight over his possessions. Episode one sees the locals rebel against the town's property being sold as holiday homes to wealthy city folk, and a mysterious but practical cargo washes up on the beach following a shipwreck.
