A profile of radio journalist Alistair Cooke told through interviews with friends and family, combined with recently discovered home video footage dating back as far as 1933. The film reveals the man behind the voice of Letter from America and includes previously unseen 8mm footage, shot by Cooke himself, of individuals who sparked his passion for the US, including Charlie Chaplin, Paulette Goddard and the final interview given by William F Buckley Jnr
