Widespread gang violence and disorder provide plenty of problems for the resident UN peace-keeping force, while the potential rekindling of rebel groups' armed resistance threatens the viability of the fledgling state

Evan Williams and James Brabazon visit Cairo to investigate the plight of Egypt's Christian minority, with thousands of them living inside a ghetto where they eke out a living recycling rubbish by hand. She looks into reports that pilgrims pay 'godmen', of which there are 3,000 in the state of Kerala alone, hundreds of times the average daily wage in exchange for help in solving their business and health problems
• India's Hidden War Sandra Jordan reports on how Maoist guerrillas in the Indian jungle have infiltrated a valuable tract of land which they claim the state is trying to take away from villagers and hand over to big corporations for development. The result is an increasingly bloody civil war between the rebels and government-funded militias
