• Season 1 Episode 8: EPISODE: 8

  For their final challenge, Benedict Allen places the five remaining contestants under the harsh tutelage of the South African Elite Fighting Force. To prove their mettle, the athletes carry concrete blocks across the length of an airfield and are buried alive for two minutes, before being chased down a mountainside by trained attack dogs.   Benedict Allen leads the contestants to South Africa, where they are required to take on the might of highly trained Zulu warriors in a series of stick-fighting contests. However, before they are deemed worthy of battle, the contenders must first prove themselves by stealing honey from wild bees, and participate in a body cleansing ritual

• Season 1 Episode 6: EPISODE: 6

  The eight contestants are led by a Native American guide into a swamp in Florida's Everglades wetlands. They must cut open a dead alligator so they can fashion tools out of its bones, wrestle a live one and tie up its jaws, and play a savage game of stickball. Benedict Allen presents

• Season 1 Episode 5: US Navy Seals

  The competitors journey to Virginia to train with the US Navy Seals, whose beach-based challenges leave them physically and emotionally drained. After the first day Carla suffers from dehydration and exhaustion, but must face her fear of water in a 'drownproofing' challenge where the volunteers repeatedly sink in a pool with their ankles and wrists bound. • Season 1 Episode 4: EPISODE: 4

  The volunteers find themselves at the mercy of a former Foreign Legion instructor. Taking them into the Sahara, he subjects them to a series of gruelling challenges, including being buried alive, a 10-kilometre camel race, and an exhausting run over the sand dunes while wearing stifling gas masks

• Season 1 Episode 3: Royal Navy

  The six remaining team members are put to sea with the Royal Navy. After a week's training in Portsmouth, they go aboard HMS Belfast on nearby Whale Island and face simulations of both a sinking under heavy gunfire and a terrifying helicopter crash. After disorientation and freezing temperatures, their final challenge is a two assault course challenge including the disassembling of a 1,250lb gun

• Season 1 Episode 2: The Norwegian School of Winter Warfare

  Benedict Allen takes his seven remaining volunteers to Norway, where the nation's army teach them lessons in winter warfare - and warn them to expect the worst pain they have ever felt. They are placed in the vicinity of a TNT explosion and forced to jump into an ice hole while still wearing their skis, before the group are informed of their night's accommodation - self-built frozen bivouacs

• Season 1 Episode 1: The Guyanan Jungle

  Eight thrill-seeking volunteers are led by Benedict Allen through a series of challenges in some of the world's harshest environments. In the Guyanan jungle, the group meet a tribe of former cannibals who introduce them to vicious huntsman ants as part of a painful initiation ceremony.
