Teachers: Season 4

• Season 4 Episode 9: Christmas Special

  The staff celebrate the festive season with a party, a wedding and an Ofsted inspection. A particularly impressive Christmas bash has left the school devastated and the staff hung over the day before the inspector calls. When it becomes clear Clare's flirtatious ways won't cut any ice this year, desperate measures are called for. Meanwhile, Bob prepares to tie the knot in the playground, but makes the mistake of enlisting Ben as his best man. Last in series

  Ben remembers a ouija board predicted he's scheduled to die on Friday - which at least saves him the effort of going to Bob's stag night. However, when a timely miracle reaffirms his belief in God, he realises he has very little time to avoid eternal damnation

  The school holds a religious tolerance week, and the staff are all assigned a faith to represent. Meanwhile, Ben goes in search of inner peace, and Bob's bride finally arrives in the country

  After receiving repeated complaints from parents and staff, all of which result in a formal warning, a beleaguered Lindsay takes a radical step and turns to Bob for help. Comedy drama, starring Vicky Hall and Lloyd McGuire

  The gang grow depressed at their single lives, pondering their inability to sustain a functional relationship - until Liz points out that Brian and Kurt are as good as married and seem to have the perfect partnership. However, a break-up seems on the cards when Brian starts to feel taken for granted. Adrian Bower and Navin Chowdhry star

  Bob is taken into hospital for emergency surgery and Matt is reluctantly roped in to fill his shoes. At first he assures colleagues that he has no intention of being a typical authority figure - but power soon goes to his head

  The staff are nonplussed when a familiar figure returns to the school - but after spending a while dithering at the perimeter fence, Simon takes the plunge and steps onto the grounds once more

  Clare assigns everyone a stress partner in a desperate bid to relieve the pressure at work. Only Matt and Lindsay actually enjoy the process - causing Penny to feel threatened by their growing friendship. Drama, with Gillian Bevan and James Lance

  Lindsay feels comfortable with turning 30, until everyone else points out she is now very old, throwing her life into turmoil and leaving her with the dilemma of whether to start acting her age, or go completely off the rails. Drama, starring Vicky Hall, Adrian Bower and Navin Chowdhry

  Liz takes a long look at Bob and for the first time in her life finds herself stirred to pity by the dishevelled wreck he has become, but gets much more than she bargained for when they go drinking. Lloyd McGuire and Ellen Thomas star

  Kurt thinks his luck with the ladies is about to change after he attracts a woman during one of the school's parents' evenings, only to discover she is turned off by his smoking. Convinced kicking the habit will be worthwhile, he sets about trying to quit - but his attempts only give his colleagues the perfect opportunity to take bets on how long they think he will last. Navin Chowdhry stars

  Penny begins to drive everybody mad with her self-obsession and self-pity, until an outburst from an exasperated Lindsay prompts her to set about reinventing herself. Unfortunately, she does not realise what an uphill task it will be. Comedy drama, starring Tamzin Malleson and Vicky Hall

  New series of the comedy drama about a group of teachers who prove just as unruly and irresponsible as their pupils. In the first instalment, a member of staff ensures her place in the gang with her capacity to outdrink the men and Kurt convinces Brian that she might fancy him : but her large shape provides him with a dilemma

• Season 2 Episode 10: EPISODE: 10

  As the end of term approaches, the staff are looking forward to the Christmas party where Kurt has his sights set on a certain lucky lady - and the alcohol-fuelled festivities quickly lead to a host of unexpected couplings, with Simon's replacement Matt catching the eye of the ladies

  When Jenny dumps Alec, she decides to concentrate all her efforts on her job and initiates a new scheme to monitor pupils' progress that creates more work for everyone - much to the consternation of JP and Kurt, who decide it's time to make a stand. Comedy drama, starring Nina Sosanya and Navin Chowdhry

  Jenny is on a downer, worrying that everything has become dull and predictable. It's not long before her glum mood rubs off on the others : especially Simon, who suddenly fears that routine respectability could be his lot in life. Andrew Lincoln makes his last appearance in the comedy drama, co-starring Raquel Cassidy and Nina Sosanya

  After a teenage mother gives a talk to the students to dissuade them from having unprotected sex, Susan decides she wants to have a baby, which horrifies Simon, who can't stand the thought of not having his best friend all to himself

  Penny continues to manipulate Bob, convincing him he would be a better mentor for her than Jenny, resulting in a mid-life crisis for the hapless head of department, who wonders if she's attracted to him. Unusually, Simon and Jenny find themselves on the same side over Penny's behaviour, with both realising she's not a good teacher

  Susan is becoming increasingly irritated with Jenny's boyfriend Alec, so tries to drive a wedge between them - but her plan fails and the couple become closer than ever, while she ends up in bed with Brian and Kurt

  JP announces that he is gay, leading Brian to question his own sexuality. The rest of the staff members are happy to encourage his paranoia - until they realise how seriously he's taking it. Drama series, starring Andrew Lincoln

  Thinking he has lost his pulling power, Simon resolves to find a girlfriend - but is disappointed when he discovers the only likely candidate is Susan. When he finally decides she is better than nothing and makes advances toward her, he is met with an unexpected response. Andrew Lincoln stars

  Kurt has to take drastic measures in order to get Carol to accept their relationship is over, and Kurt and Brian get into a competition about who new teacher Penny might fancy

  As term ends, Simon's difficulties seem to be increasing, and lack of sleep is the least of his problems as he faces an interview for his own job. Jumping to the conclusion that Jenny is trying to ruin Susan's career chances, he's soon forced to eat his words in an apology that leaves him in even more of a quandary than usual. Last in series

  Simon is caught in a tricky situation when one of the students complains to him about Bob, but Bob is on the interview panel for Simon's job and so he faces a dilemma

  Clare earmarks Penny for Simon's job in the English department, to the consternation of Bob and Jenny, who aren't sure she can handle the role - but will the headmistress listen to reason? With Adrian Bower and Navin Chowdhry
