A policeman returns to his home town on the west coast of Ireland, where an immigrant has been found dead in a caravan. The investigation leads Garda Sergeant Jack Driscoll into the heart of the community as he uncovers a web of blackmail and sexual abuse involving a farmer, a hotelier, a builder with a violent reputation, and a property developer. But it is Jack's father, retired Garda Gerry Driscoll, who holds the key to the mystery.
