First of a two-part drama following idealistic housemates Paul Tibbenham and Maggie Dunn as they battle to help get the Labour Party into government. Set against the backdrop of real events, the story follows the duo from their final days of university to Westminster's corridors of power. Friends whose deep-seated passion for politics is matched by their intense rivalry and love for each other, they rise rapidly within the New Labour ranks and have the satisfaction of seeing the party sweep to victory in 1997 : but the pressures of success exact a heavy price, threatening not just their friendship, but the very beliefs that inspired them in the first place.
