Season 1 Episode 1:A New World
A group of adults and children from the UK and US recreate the lifestyle of a 17th-century pioneer settlement from scratch, facing hardship and back-breaking labour for four months. The colonists arrive by ship, and soon meet local Native American tribe the Passamaquoddy - but as sickness takes hold in the camp, the newly appointed governor faces his first tough test
City of God
The colonists find it difficult to think like 17th-century settlers, and face increasingly severe punishments for a variety of offences from skipping church to nude swimming. Governor Wyers proves a strict enforcer of the law as he sets up a new rule book based on rigid religious codes. However, he finds himself on the edge of endurance as morale begins to disintegrate - and 11 new arrivals head for the village. Continues tomorrow
Harsh Reality
The group begin the urgent task of planting corn, but unrest in the village is already apparent as the settlers struggle to adjust to outmoded social roles. Tensions surface during the first Sunday multi-faith service, and the situation worsens when the governor is called away after a family tragedy. His temporary replacement soon has anarchy on his hands - and the final straw is added when an unexpected visitor arrives
Judgement Day
Though tensions remain between Jack Lecza and Governor Heinz, morale is high thanks to a bumper crop of corn, and is maintained when the men agree to swap places with the women after they complain about the tedious nature of their work. However, the positive atmosphere within the colony quickly disappears once members of the Wampanoag nation establish a camp nearby. Last in series
The Outsiders
The latest influx of settlers has stretched resources even more thinly, with food rations halved and single cabins being shared. The men work to pay off their sponsors by making spars, while an unusual building project occupies the entire colony. Continues tomorrow
The Shake Up
As morale plummets, members of the colony begin to lose faith in the governor, prompting him and his family to relinquish their control over the community. A power struggle follows, and lay preacher Don Heinz becomes head of the church and state, but when a new figure of authority appears on the scene it quickly becomes apparent his days in charge are numbered
