The House by the River

James Friel's dramatisation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel, set in Nagasaki in 1950 and England in 1977. Haunted by her daughter's suicide, Etsuko tries to dull the pain by retreating into memories of a hot summer in Nagasaki, where she and her family struggled to rebuild their lives after the war.
