    The Brockman family has a restless night - Ben is just back from another of his frequent visits to casualty, Jake is providing alibis for his girlfriend and Karen is writing an angry letter to the prime minister asking him to fire her teacher. However, as the night wears on, a thunderstorm breaks over the house and Mum receives shocking news about her dream boss. Then a policeman comes knocking at the front door. Ben is put in charge of cracking the eggs - a responsibility his dad later regrets giving him - and the boy develops a taste for gin when the guests arrive.
