  The Brockman family has a restless night - Ben is just back from another of his frequent visits to casualty, Jake is providing alibis for his girlfriend and Karen is writing an angry letter to the prime minister asking him to fire her teacher. However, as the night wears on, a thunderstorm breaks over the house and Mum receives shocking news about her dream boss. Then a policeman comes knocking at the front door.   Karen has had enough of her mother's nagging and packs her bags, as preparations get under way for the family dinner party. Ben is put in charge of cracking the eggs - a responsibility his dad later regrets giving him - and the boy develops a taste for gin when the guests arrive. Angela announces she is moving back to Australia. Last in series

  Dad's problems become public knowledge as he finds himself splashed across the front page of the local paper. Ben claims to be too ill to go to school, but manages a telling question-and-answer session, and Mum leaves work after confronting her boss. The family also have to cheer up Auntie Angela when she is dumped by her boyfriend

  Ben takes his talent for lying to a new level, while Dad finds himself being questioned about his friendship with Gordon Brown and his SAS training. Meanwhile, Mum is making plans for a romantic night at home, but her plans could be scuppered if Karen's friend and her mother are still hanging around

  The problems mount for Mum and Dad as seven-year-old Ben further develops his talent for lying and their daughter outwits them in continuous negotiations over what she will eat.
