The Old Curiosity Shop

Sophie Vavasseur heads the cast of this star-studded version of Charles Dickens' classic novel as Little Nell Trent, who lives a seemingly happy life in an enchanting old shop filled with dust-laden treasures. However, what she doesn't know is that her doting grandfather (Derek Jacobi), the owner of the business, has been gambling away what little profit they make - and when he ends up in debt to ruthless loan shark Quilp (Toby Jones), the duo are forced to flee their beloved home. While on the run they meet a number of colourful and frequently friendly characters, but Nell is all too aware the money-lenders, who include her own wastrel brother Freddie (Bryan Dick) and his gullible friend Dick Swiveller (Geoff Breton), are never far behind. Meanwhile, a mysterious gentleman (Adrian Rawlins) has contacted her loyal friend Kit (George MacKay) looking for the missing pair - but if Quilp finds them first, there will be an enormous price to pay.
