In the second of two creature animation programmes, the year is 1960 and the whale begins a fresh chapter in its life in a new ocean - the Pacific. The mammal encounters fiery submarine volcanoes, towering hydrothermal vents and journeys through waters that man's influence is changing beyond all recognition. The icy deeps of Antarctica are its final destination - and a duel with a colossal squid
