Synopsis:
Riccardo Muti conducts the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the traditional New Year's Day concert featuring works by Johann Strauss, whose 200th birthday is commemorated in 2004. Ballet and ice skating sequences choreographed by Boris Elfman complement the music, while the intermission profiles Austrian cities and regions which have been declared World Cultural Heritage sites
