Mystery of the Ice Mummy

Dr Sonia Guillen and her archaeology team unravel the last days of an Inca girl found mummified at the summit of Mount Ampato some 500 years after her death. Perfectly preserved in the freezing conditions at 21,000ft, the remains : including skin and eyes : reveal that the 12-year-old was killed by a blow to the head and dressed in the finest clothes, indicating she was an offering to propitiate the gods.
