The wily uncle takes nephew Edward to meet Goffy Windsor, a notorious braggart, who promptly challenges Silas to a race. It looks like a foregone conclusion when Goffy is seen training at every available opportunity, unlike his laid-back opponent, who seems more interested in drinking.
