• Season 8 Episode 16: Mr. Monk and the End, Part II

  The conclusion of the final episode of the detective drama. Adrian decides the time has finally come to watch the tape Trudy left for him before her death - and discovers the identity of her killer. However, as the effects of the poison begin to take hold, the investigator faces a race against time to bring the villain to justice. • Season 8 Episode 12: Mr. Monk Goes Camping

  Adrian learns a police captain on the panel that will assess his application to rejoin the force is determined to reject him - so he agrees to accompany Disher and the man's trouble-making son on a camping trip in a bid to curry favour. However, the investigator soon discovers life in the woods is far from tranquil.   Adrian reluctantly agrees to take care of a missing woman's dog after Natalie notices it seems to like him.   Natalie tries to arrange a surprise birthday party for Adrian, but the obsessive sleuth insists she will never be able to catch him out.   Adrian is forced to attend group therapy sessions after his insurance company changes his policy - and the sleuth discovers that his fellow attendees are being killed off one by one.   Natalie is terrified when several seemingly unrelated deaths are linked to voodoo dolls that were sent to the victims - and she believes she could be the next victim after receiving one of the occult objects.   Natalie suspects a theatre critic has committed a murder, but he has a solid alibi - he was reviewing her daughter Julie's play at the time the victim died. With even Adrian doubting her theory, she is forced to do some investigating of her own. • Season 8 Episode 5: Mr. Monk Takes the Stand

  The investigator testifies in court against a killer, but has a nervous breakdown when a ruthless attorney preys on his phobias. Worrying that his weaknesses have made him a liability, Adrian becomes despondent, until he discovers a way to restore his reputation while helping Disher investigate a seemingly unconnected case. • Season 8 Episode 4: Mr. Monk Is Someone Else

  Adrian is asked by the FBI to assume the identity of a dead hitman who looked exactly like him, in an effort to find out who the man's next target was, but finds himself a little too convincing in the role. Guest starring Eric Balfour (24), Kelly Carlson (Nip/Tuck) and Vincent Coratula (The Sopranos)

• Season 8 Episode 3: Mr. Monk and the UFO

  Natalie and Adrian are stranded in a small town after their car breaks down. The investigator goes to call for help, and spots a strange object in the sky - and it is not long before word of his discovery attracts a crowd of UFO enthusiasts to the site. Events take a more sinister turn, however, after they find a body in the desert. Light-hearted crime drama, starring Tony Shalhoub and Natalie Teeger, with Daniel Stern (Home Alone) and Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family)

  Adrian befriends a Nigerian musician who has come to America to find the hit-and-run driver who killed his wife - and realises the incident could be linked to a murder that the police are investigating, where a housekeeper was found bludgeoned to death. • Season 8 Episode 1: Mr Monk's Favourite Show

  The sleuth is delighted when an actress he had a crush on as a child hires him to serve as her bodyguard. However, his happy memories of her on-screen persona are crushed when he realises she is far less pleasant once the cameras stop rolling. Guest starring Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds, The Flintstones)

Monk: Season 7 (2008 - 2009)

• Season 7 Episode 16: Mr. Monk Fights City Hall

  When the parking garage where Adrian's wife Trudy was killed is ear-marked for demolition, the detective intervenes - but soon finds himself investigating the disappearance of a city official key to preserving the building. Guest starring Jon Polito (Homicide: Life on the Street), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 7 Episode 15: Mr. Monk and the Magician

  Adrian investigates the death of his neighbour Kevin Dorfman, which he is sure was at the hands of magician the Great Torini - who claims he was in Reno when the murder took place. Guest starring Steve Valentine (Crossing Jordan) and Peyton List (FlashForward)

• Season 7 Episode 14: Mr. Monk and the Bully

  Adrian is hired by his childhood bully, who wants evidence that his wife is having an affair. But when the woman's suspected lover is murdered, the investigator is eager to prove his client committed the crime. Guest starring Noah Emmerich (The Truman Show) and Julie Bowen (Modern Family), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 7 Episode 13: Mr. Monk Makes the Playoffs

  Adrian receives two free tickets to the NFL playoffs from a sportscaster. He takes Stottlemeyer to the game, but when a fan's car is blown up in the parking lot the duo decide to investigate. Comedy drama, starring Tony Shalhoub and Ted Levine

• Season 7 Episode 12: Mr. Monk and the Lady Next Door

  Adrian is befriended by a neighbour while he is investigating a murder at the museum, but is suspicious of her reasons for getting to know him. Guest starring Gena Rowlands (A Woman Under the Influence) and Audrey Wasilewski (Big Love), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 7 Episode 11: Mr. Monk on Wheels

  Natalie persuades Adrian to investigate the theft of a bicycle from a biotech CEO. When the detective is shot in the leg while working on the case, his assistant has to push his wheelchair around and attend to his every whim. Guest starring Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) and Pamela Adlon (Californication), with Tony Shalhoub and Traylor Howard

• Season 7 Episode 10: Mr Monk's Other Brother

  Adrian's half-brother Jack escapes from prison and breaks into the detective's apartment to ask him to help prove he is not guilty of murdering a social worker. Guest starring Steve Zahn (Treme) and Titus Welliver (Deadwood), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 7 Episode 9: Mr Monk and the Miracle

  Three homeless men suspect their friend was murdered and want to hire Adrian to investigate, and Natalie insists that he help these less-fortunate souls during the Christmas season, while Stottlemeyer seeks a treatment for his back pain at an apparently miraculous well

• Season 7 Episode 8: Mr Monk Gets Hypnotised

  Adrian decides to try visiting a hypnotherapist, hopeful that the treatment will enable him to fit in better with those around him. However, the session leaves him regressed to a dangerously childlike state, jeopardising an investigation into the abduction of a wealthy billionaire's wife. Guest starring Richard Schiff (The West Wing), Henry Czerny (The Tudors) and Dina Meyer (Saw), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 7 Episode 7: Mr. Monk's 100th Case

  As Monk and his friends watch a TV news magazine piece on the solution of his hundredth case, he realises that one of the victims was murdered by a different killer. The 100th episode of the comedy drama, guest starring Will & Grace's Eric McCormack , with cameo appearances by John Turturro, Sarah Silverman, Howie Mandel and Brooke Adams

• Season 7 Episode 6: Mr. Monk Falls in Love

  Adrian falls in love with a woman accused of murdering a taxi driver and strives to prove her innocence, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary - not to mention the fact that she has also confessed. Guest starring Joanna Pacula (Gorky Park), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 7 Episode 5: Mr. Monk Is Underwater

  An old acquaintance of Natalie's husband asks Adrian for help when his friend supposedly commits suicide in a locked cabin on a submarine. the detective agrees to investigate, despite his phobia of water. Guest starring Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers) and William Atherton (Die Hard), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 7 Episode 4: Mr. Monk Takes a Punch

  A boxer narrowly avoids being killed by a bomb, and Stottlemeyer believes it will not be the only attempt on his life with a championship bout coming up. Adrian divides his time between investigating the case and contemplating retirement after he finds out he must pass a physical fitness test for civilian police consultants. Guest starring Robert Loggia (Big), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 7 Episode 3: Mr. Monk Gets Lotto Fever

  A TV lotto announcer is murdered and Natalie stands in while Adrian tries to solve the case. However, the detective faces trouble when his assistant starts enjoying her new job. Guest starring Malcolm Barrett (Better Off Ted), with Tony Shalhoub and Traylor Howard

• Season 7 Episode 2: Mr. Monk and the Genius

  A chess grandmaster is suspected of murdering his wife, embroiling Adrian in a battle of wits with the reputed genius who was apparently at a tournament in Canada when the crime occurred. Guest starring David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 7 Episode 1: Mr. Monk Buys a House

  Drama, starring Tony Shalhoub as an obsessive-compulsive police consultant whose condition enables him to focus on tiny details and solve baffling cases. The detective has a problem with his neighbours making noise nobody else seems bothered by - and decides his only option is to move house. Guest starring Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond)

Monk: Season 6 (2007 - 2008)

• Season 6 Episode 16: Mr. Monk Is on the Run, Part 2

  Part two of two. While Stottlemeyer maintains the pretence that Adrian is dead, the sleuth tries to discover who framed him for the murder. Since the police captain is the only person who knows Monk is alive, Natalie proceeds with the funeral arrangements. Guest starring Scott Glenn, with Tony Shalhoub, Ted Levine and Traylor Howard

• Season 6 Episode 15: Mr. Monk Is on the Run, Part 1

  Part one of two. Adrian is arrested for murdering a man with six fingers on his right hand, but he escapes the custody of a small-town sheriff and and tries to prove his innocence while on the run. Guest starring Scott Glenn (The Silence of the Lambs) and CS Lee (Dexter), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 6 Episode 14: Mr. Monk Paints His Masterpiece

  While investigating a murder at a junkyard, Natalie notices an art set complete with easels and suggests Adrian take up painting as a hobby. The sleuth does so and is baffled when an admirer begins buying all his work. Guest starring Peter Stormare and Victoria Tennant, and featuring Stanley Kamel's last appearance as Monk's psychiatrist Dr Charles Kroger

• Season 6 Episode 13: Mr. Monk and the Three Julies

  Adrian searches for a killer who appears to be targeting women called Julie Teeger, the same name as Natalie's daughter. Crime drama, guest starring John Hawkes (Deadwood), with Tony Shalhoub, Traylor Howard and Emmy Clarke

• Season 6 Episode 12: Mr. Monk Goes to the Bank

  The investigator is distraught when his wife's bracelet is stolen from a safety deposit box at the bank. Convinced the theft was carried out by someone with knowledge of the building, he takes up a position as a security guard in a bid to unmask the culprit. Light-hearted crime drama, starring Tony Shalhoub and Traylor Howard

• Season 6 Episode 11: Mr. Monk Joins a Cult

  Adrian joins a cult to solve the murder of a girl who was killed in a public park, but falls under the spell of its charismatic leader and gradually forgets about the investigation. Tony Shalhoub stars, with Howie Mandel (St Elsewhere)

• Season 6 Episode 10: Mr. Monk and the Man Who Shot Santa

  Adrian becomes a social pariah when he shoots a man dressed as Santa Claus, and must clear his name and foil a larger criminal plot in time for Christmas. Crime drama, starring Tony Shalhoub and Traylor Howard

• Season 6 Episode 9: Mr Monk Stays Up All Night

  After bumping into a woman on the street, the detective finds himself unable to sleep, and during his battle with insomnia, witnesses a murder that seems never to have occcurred

• Season 6 Episode 8: Mr. Monk and the Wrong Man

  New evidence leads to the release of a man Monk helped convict 14 years previously, and the guilt-stricken detective tries to help him adjust to life on the outside

• Season 6 Episode 7: Mr. Monk and the Daredevil

  The investigator has difficulty dealing with the revelation that a renowned daredevil's secret identity is that of his rival Harold Krenshaw. Starring Tony Shalhoub and Tim Bagley

• Season 6 Episode 6: Mr. Monk and the Buried Treasure

  Dr Kroger's son Troy discovers a mysterious map, and asks an unsuspecting Monk to help him solve a series of cryptic clues leading to buried treasure. Unfortunately, they find only danger waiting at the end of their quest. Tony Shalhoub stars

• Season 6 Episode 5: Mr. Monk and the Birds and the Bees

  The detective helps advise Julie about her love life while investigating the double murder of a homeowner and the man apparently burgling her home, but not even his deductive reasoning links the two. Tony Shalhoub, Emmy Clarke and Traylor Howard star, with guest Gail O'Grady (NYPD Blue) and Matt Lanter (90210)

• Season 6 Episode 4: Mr. Monk and the Bad Girlfriend

  Captain Stottlemeyer's girlfriend Linda is implicated in the fatal shooting of her business partner, but proves to have a cast-iron alibi. Sharon Lawrence (NYPD Blue) guest stars, with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 6 Episode 3: Mr. Monk and the Naked Man

  For the purpose of solving a murder, Adrian must visit a nudist beach and, in doing so, confront a lifelong prejudice of his own that needs Dr Kroger to unlock. With Alfred Molina

• Season 6 Episode 2: Mr. Monk and the Rapper

  A rapper is accused of murdering a rival, and asks Monk to help establish his innocence. Snoop Dogg guest stars alongside Tony Shalhoub

• Season 6 Episode 1: Mr. Monk and His Biggest Fan

  Obsessive fan Marci Maven approaches Monk and asks him to help clear her dog, which has been implicated in the death of a neighbour's wife - despite the animal dying several days before the crime took place. The idiosyncratic detective is unwilling to get involved, but a bachelor auction at the police station leaves him with no choice in the matter. American comedienne Sarah Silverman guest stars, with Tony Shalhoub and Traylor Howard

Monk: Season 5 (2006 - 2007)

• Season 5 Episode 16: Mr. Monk Goes to the Hospital

  A minor nose-bleed sends a panic-stricken Adrian scurrying frantically to the nearest hospital, where he falls foul of a murderous medic whose outstanding surgical skills are matched only by his sheer homicidal ruthlessness. Guest starring Dan Butler (Frasier) and Charles Durning (Rescue Me), with Tony Shalhoub

• Season 5 Episode 15: Mr Monk and the Really Dead Guy

  A hi-tech team of FBI agents tries to help Stottlemeyer catch a self-proclaimed serial killer threatening to launch a city-wide reign of terror - but Adrian uses the old-fashioned virtues of patience, logic and intuition to solve the case. Tony Shalhoub stars

• Season 5 Episode 14: Mr. Monk Visits a Farm

  Disher retires from the police force after inheriting a farm from his uncle, but calls in Monk when he suspects his relative's death may have been down to foul play. Detective drama, starring Tony Shalhoub and Jason-Gray Stanford. Last in series

• Season 5 Episode 2: Mr Monk and the Garbage Strike

  San Francisco's refuse collectors go on strike, plunging Adrian into a frenzy of loathing as rubbish begins piling up in the streets - and making it hard for him to concentrate on solving the murder of a union official. Unable to think rationally, he becomes convinced a rock star is the killer. Guest starring Alice Cooper as himself, and Chi McBride (Pushing Daisies)

• Season 5 Episode 1: Mr. Monk and the Actor

  Highly strung method actor David Ruskin (guest star Stanley Tucci) researches a role by studying Adrian's mannerisms, but becomes so immersed in his personality that he develops an obsession with solving Trudy's murder. Tony Shalhoub stars

Monk: Season 4 (2005 - 2006)

• Season 4 Episode 16: Mr Monk Gets Jury Duty

  In a case with clear echoes of classic film 12 Angry Men, Monk is summoned for jury duty - and manages to solve a murder while sequestered from the outside world in a locked room. For good measure, he also thwarts the machinations of a mobster planning to escape from police custody in the same building

• Season 4 Episode 15: Mr Monk Goes to the Dentist

  Disher visits his dentist for emergency treatment, and witnesses a murder while under anaesthetic. Unfortunately, because he was semi-conscious at the time, Stottlemeyer refuses to believe him - so he quits the force and hires Adrian to solve the mystery. Guest starring Jon Favreau (Iron Man)

• Season 4 Episode 14: Mr Monk and the Astronaut

  An astronaut baffles Adrian by seemingly achieving the impossible - murdering the author of a kiss-and-tell biography in her San Francisco home while simultaneously orbiting the Earth in a Nasa spacecraft. Guest starring Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice)

• Season 4 Episode 13: Mr Monk and the Big Reward

  Adrian and Natalie go in search of the stolen Alexander Diamond, hoping to win the $1million reward to give a much needed boost to their failing finances. However, the detectives face competition in the form of a retired Scotland Yard investigator. Tony Shalhoub and Traylor Howard star

• Season 4 Episode 12: Mr Monk and the Captain's Marriage

  Stottlemeyer is forced to attend anger-management classes for punching a police officer who claimed to be having an affair with his wife Karen. Unfortunately, he does not suspect his outburst of temper helped taint a crime scene and conceal a murder. • Season 4 Episode 11: Mr Monk Bumps His Head

  A bump on the head robs Monk of his memory, leaving him struggling to solve the greatest mystery of all - the riddle of his own identity. Stranded in a strange town, he also catches a killer while struggling to piece together his past. Laurie Metcalf guests as a lonely spinster who uses his plight to her own advantage

• Season 4 Episode 10: Mr Monk Goes to a Fashion Show

  A fashion designer commits murder, but unwittingly sows the seeds of his own downfall by hiring Natalie's 13-year-old daughter Julie as a model, thus ensuring his tell-tale guilty behaviour is closely observed by Monk. Guest starring Malcolm McDowell (Heroes)
