• Season 12 Episode 5: Small Mercies

  The sleepy hamlet of Little Worthy is shaken when a man's body is found tied down in a miniature village just like the literary character Gulliver in classic book Gulliver's Travels. As the investigation begins, Barnaby has no shortage of suspects, including the victim's recently jilted partner - a teacher whose classroom is full of paintings about the book - his teenage lover, a caretaker and a hotel owner. But the case takes a twist when the killer strikes again amid the chaos of the annual fancy-dress boat race.   Barnaby's secret past as a spy is revealed when a former agent is killed after a cricket match between the villagers and toffs. The dead man's wounds appear to have been inflicted by a giant claw, triggering rumours of a 'beast of Midsomer', and before long, another body turns up with similar injuries. Barnaby then realises the incidents are linked to the time the local network of spies spent in Cold War Berlin. • Season 12 Episode 1: The Dogleg Murders

  A prestigious golf club is the setting for murder when a player is bludgeoned to death on the 13th hole. Barnaby and Jones discover gambling, illegal money-lending and assault are rife among the snobbish members, who are also dismissive of the local villagers and only allow them onto the course for a few hours a week. Before long, another body turns up, making the detectives determined to catch this terror of the fairways. • Season 11 Episode 6: Days of Misrule

  Barnaby and Jones are on a team-building exercise and hating every minute of it, so a fatal explosion at a haulage yard in Calham Cross proves a welcome, if unfortunate, distraction. The yard is owned by Territorial Army commanding officer Matt Parkes, with a platoon made up of local men and whose son, James, is a businessman whose ruthlessness in the boardroom is matched only by his behaviour with women. To complicate matters, the village is also home to a peace protester and a grieving mother - and Barnaby has to decide if any of these locals is capable of arson and murder.   A magician's assistant drops dead on stage, poisoned by the deadly toxins of a tropical frog.   Local country magazine Midsomer Life hits the headlines when a body is discovered in woodland. Disliked for his negative reviews of businesses in the area, the journal's owner Guy Sandys saw his marriage crumble when his wife Christina ran off with the man now found dead. • Season 11 Episode 3: Left for Dead

  Local boy DS Ben Jones is a mine of information for his boss DCI Barnaby when a reclusive elderly couple are murdered in their home and a spate of killings appears to be linked to a fatal road accident and the disappearance of a teenager 20 years earlier. A bitter struggle over plans to demolish homes in a road development and wild pronouncements from the local psychic ensure tensions in the village of Dunstan remain at fever pitch. • Season 11 Episode 2: Blood Wedding

  New series of the detective drama. Barnaby becomes an unwelcome guest at local baron Ned Fitzroy's high-society wedding to Beth Porteous when the maid of honour is found pinned to the wall with a dagger. Meanwhile, Cully gets cold feet about tying the knot with Simon and is disappointed to learn the honeymoon to New Zealand will have to be cut short. • Season 11 Episode 1: Shot at Dawn

  Tommy Hicks of the Midsomer Yeomanry finally has his name added to the Midsomer Parva war memorial, though he was shot for cowardice at the Somme in World War One. It soon becomes apparent time has not healed the rift between his descendants and the toffs at Hammond Hall, whose patriarch Duggie Hammond pulled the trigger on his comrade all those years ago. A drink-fuelled mock trial of retired colonel Henry Hammond leads to a killing and Tom Barnaby has to unravel the tangle of bitterness, lust and lies linking property developer Dave Hicks' brood with their well-heeled neighbours - before somebody else dies. • Season 10 Episode 8: Death in a Chocolate Box

  Tom's former CID colleague Jack Colby left the force under a cloud following a sex scandal involving villagers, officers at Causton police station and even the wife of local landowner Lord Holm, who killed his unfaithful wife with the handle of a historic camera obscura standing at the heart of the village. Now reformed and retrained as a probation officer, Jack has done his penance working at a halfway house for reformed criminals set up by Lord Holm, so when he is bludgeoned to death Tom sets out to discover why the past would not leave him alone. Drama, starring John Nettles as DCI Tom Barnaby and Jason Hughes as DS Ben Jones, with support from Chris Barrie, Edward Petherbridge, Sue Jenkins, Nigel Harrison and Christopher Fairbank.

• Season 10 Episode 7: They Seek Him Here

  When director Nick Cheyney is found beheaded by a guillotine on the set of his latest film, Barnaby and Jones are left with no shortage of suspects. Cheyney, it transpires, fostered ill relations with several people in some way connected to the project, including Leonie Charteris - the mother of his child, and actor Raymond Clandillon, who blamed him for ruining his career. • Season 10 Episode 6: Picture of Innocence

  Barnaby is implicated when a photographer is murdered shortly after a compromising picture of the detective is displayed at an exhibition. Joyce quickly comes to the conclusion that someone is trying to frame him, so is stunned when he admits to a previous relationship with the murdered man's wife, who he is seen embracing in the photograph. Jones is forced to work with the irritating Martin Spellman to solve the case. Liza Goddard makes a guest appearance

• Season 10 Episode 5: Death and Dust

  When Dr Alan Delaney is killed by a hit-and-run driver while in charge of his partner's new car, Barnaby and Jones discover the dead man had once been accused by Dr James Kirkwood of stealing a large sum of money from their Midsomer Market practice. Further investigations to uncover the whereabouts of the missing money lead the detectives to believe that Kirkwood may have been the real target

• Season 10 Episode 4: The Axeman Cometh

  Barbaby is delighted to hear his rock heroes Hired Gun are reuniting to play at the Midsomer Rocks festival - minus their drummer, who disappeared 30 years ago after driving his car into a quarry. A string of bizarre warnings convinces the paranoid lead singer someone is trying to stop the reunion, and his fears are confirmed when the backing singer drops dead on stage. As Cully gets to know the band's manager Simon better, Tom starts to sort out the tangled relationships within the band. Suzi Quatro guest stars. Last in the series

• Season 10 Episode 3: King's Crystal

  When a family glassware business collapses following the death of one of the partners, Barnaby investigates allegations of financial irregularities, several love triangles and a string of murders. Lapsed Freemason Jones uses his inside knowledge to explore the ceremonial aspects of two killings, but it's Cully's production of Hamlet that gives Tom the key to the mystery.   A mischievous trickster finally gets his comeuppance when his body is found floating below the weir in Midsomer Deverell. • Season 10 Episode 1: Dance with the Dead

  The apparent suicide of a young man in an armoured car shocks the village of Morton Fendle, but things take a more sinister turn after the discovery he was not alone when he died. Top of Barnaby and Jones' list of suspects is the victim's missing girlfriend - whose mysterious hold over the war-blighted residents could prove the key to the mystery. • Season 9 Episode 8: Last Year's Model

  A Midsomer Malham resident is on trial accused of battering her best friend to death, but Barnaby can't help feeling the evidence against her doesn't add up. The detective enlists the help of pensioner Mrs Beverley, who also happens to be one of the key witnesses, to find out what really happened on the night of the murder - until he realises the old lady could be at risk from his chief suspect. • Season 9 Episode 7: Death in Chorus

  New series of the detective drama, starring John Nettles and Jason Hughes. The Midsomer Worthy Choir are in shock after a baritone dies on the eve of a prestigious competition. Barnaby catches a figure sidling away from the church, who claims he was birdwatching at the time of the killing - but when he is fatally shot, the inspector and sidekick Jones need to find the connection between him and the murdered singer. • Season 9 Episode 6: Country Matters

  The residents of Elverton-cum-Latterly gather to hold a protest meeting about proposals for a supermarket in the centre of the village, but proceedings are brought to a halt by the discovery of the site adviser's body. Barnaby and Jones discover the victim had a penchant for acting out role-play scenarios with locals - but that isn't the only secret the villagers are hiding. John Nettles and Jason Hughes star

• Season 9 Episode 5: Four Funerals and a Wedding

  The final episode of the series sees Barnaby and Jones investigating the deaths of a female pensioner and a suspect vicar, who were both killed during Broughton village's annual contest between men and women. The pair soon discover the preacher had a secret that could provide a motive - but when another body is found, they realise the answer to all the deaths lies in history.   Part one of two. The discovery of a priceless music score leads to startling revelations about its composer's life.   The naked body of a business executive is found dumped in a rival factory's steriliser machine, leaving Barnaby and Scott with a complicated mystery to unravel. Their investigation begins with factory owners the Plummer family, who seem to be hiding more than their share of secrets. • Season 7 Episode 6: The Straw Woman

  Midsomer Parva plays host to a traditional pagan festival, but tragedy strikes when curate Alex Dakin is burned alive inside a straw effigy of a woman. A local man infamous for holding orgies in a chapel is suspected - but he denies the murder charge. The body count mounts as an apparent victim of spontaneous combustion, and a budding photographer and a newly arrived schoolteacher are the next to be roasted alive.   An amateur archaeologist publishes a book about his father's discovery of a Celtic spear and chalice in an ancient mound, and decides to plan a celebration on the site - but landowner Gareth Heldman is less than keen on the idea. While out walking, Joyce spots Heldman arguing with a woman, and hours later he winds up stabbed to death with an old weapon that bears a striking resemblance to the one found during the dig.   A local woman is found murdered following a row with her husband at a residents' association Spanish-themed evening. The finger of suspicion soon points to an odd-job man with a violent history and the chairman of the association reveals he heard a squeaking noise after the victim left - but the witness promptly winds up dead himself.
