Steve Traynor's colleagues worry when he doesn't arrive for work, concerned he is not coping well after Dee's death, while Superintendent Susan Blake has to explain the tragic circumstances to a Chief Inspector determined to pin the blame on her. At the station Sergeant Danny Jackson has to help with a delivery when a shoplifter goes into labour, and Inspector Jim Oulton deals with a suspected arson case at a well-respected children's home
