  • Season 4 Episode 8: Day of Reckoning

    Larry Barton and Jackie Brown investigate the case of a 15-year-old who is conducting a relationship in an Internet chat room with a very suspicious older man, but Larry is still haunted by the memory of the girl he ran over, which leads him to become too emotionally involved in the case. Roz Kelly warns her father not to resume his life of crime, while Pete Hammond also takes an interest in Eddie Lewis's return. Unfortunately, his investigation leads him into a life-threatening confrontation with a local thug. Last in series

    A woman is found murdered in a playground, and DS Kelly is sent to investigate. The victim is identified as Clare Robinson, a local student with an unblemished past. Their inquiries initially prove fruitless, but an encounter with one of Clare's friends who is clearly hiding something leads to the truth.     Jodie, Steve and his brother Chris vow to keep quiet when Peter Orton dies from his injuries, but when the victim's father comes forward with information, Jim Oulton is horrified to discover his officers may have been involved. Elsewhere, Inspector Charlie Eden has her hands full when an unhappy child runs away because of her divorced parents' bitter fight for custody. The man responsible is discovered to be a racist thug who vows to exact revenge on whoever identified him, a move which prompts Larry to go on the warpath

    Jim's problems with his family cause him to sympathise with a father who is trying to find his estranged daughter, but his attempt to help backfires when he is called out to a domestic disturbance involving the warring pair. Meanwhile, Charlie raises a few eyebrows when she arrives at work in a limousine, claiming that she attended a hen night party

    Chief Constable Harvey offers Jim a new position, which he accepts in the knowledge that he will be able to promote Connie. The arrest of a shoplifter by new inspector Charlie Eden leads to tragedy for Steve, who falls asleep while on duty and fails to check up on the crook. The resulting incident puts two officers' careers in jeopardy and places Jim under enormous pressure
