• Season 4 Episode 8: Day of Reckoning

  Larry Barton and Jackie Brown investigate the case of a 15-year-old who is conducting a relationship in an Internet chat room with a very suspicious older man, but Larry is still haunted by the memory of the girl he ran over, which leads him to become too emotionally involved in the case. Roz Kelly warns her father not to resume his life of crime, while Pete Hammond also takes an interest in Eddie Lewis's return. Unfortunately, his investigation leads him into a life-threatening confrontation with a local thug. Last in series

  A woman is found murdered in a playground, and DS Kelly is sent to investigate. The victim is identified as Clare Robinson, a local student with an unblemished past. But when it becomes apparent that this seemingly innocent woman was involved in drug smuggling, Kelly is forced into a tense alliance with DI Hammond from the Drug Squad. Their inquiries initially prove fruitless, but an encounter with one of Clare's friends who is clearly hiding something leads to the truth. Meanwhile, Jim Oulton is reunited with his teenage sweetheart, who is being menaced by her vengeful ex-husband and a mysterious man is seen loitering outside the station, looking for Kelly : what secrets is she hiding from her colleagues?

  A serial rapist spreads terror in the city, and the Newton Park team are under pressure to find him before he strikes again, particularly when Jim Oulton decides to take a hands-on role in the case. It seems they've had a lucky break when young Leon Marsh claims to have witnessed the latest attack, but as Larry Barton interviews him, he begins to think the boy is making it all up : especially when the prime suspect turns out to be his mother's boyfriend. Meanwhile, Natalie Vance's brother is accused of involvement in a car theft racket, so she turns to Glenn Freeman for help and Charlie Eden becomes frustrated at the growing relationship between DI Hammond and PC Brown

  Jim Oulton's father feels compelled to dig up the past when a convicted murderer dies in prison after nearly 20 years behind bars. He was the arresting officer on the original case, but harboured suspicions that the accused was innocent, and enlists the aid of Sgt Bill Gentle to secretly reinvestigate the case. Lester and Jodie find themselves in a moral quandary when £20,000 goes missing from a dead man's mattress and the prime suspect is a priest raising money to send a boy to America for a life-saving operation

  Charlie and Pete go undercover as a married couple to investigate if an adoption agency is selling babies to the highest bidder, but posing as husband and wife unearths a few long-buried secrets. Kerry Johnstone is arrested for stealing a baby and Liverpool player Danny Murphy makes a presentation to Cartwright's under-11 girls' football team : much to the annoyance of devoted Everton fan Jim Oulton

  PCs Jackie Brown and Jodie Finn get more than they bargained for when they attend a shoplifting call, finding a boy who has been left home alone after his father went on holiday with his new girlfriend. Jodie tries to reunite him with his estranged mother, but will she want to know the boy? Elsewhere, Pete Hammond and Charlie Eden struggle to cope with the growing tension between them, and Larry Barton's wedding day dawns

  PCs Larry Barton and Glenn Freeman discover a female corpse in the river, and when the dead woman's husband breaks down in the interview room, DI Pete Hammond believes he's the killer. However, Inspector Charlie Eden isn't so sure, and takes matters into her own hands. On the personal front, Larry's stag night doesn't go according to plan, and a romantic encounter catches up with two members of the team.   The first in a new series of the police drama, that sees the debut of Newton Park's CID team. Kim and Tom Vale return from honeymoon, but find themselves confronted with crime on their doorstep when a neighbouring boy is attacked. Tom intervenes but is reluctant to testify, despite getting a good look at the attacker. Events take a tragic turn, however, when a murder is linked to the case, and the reasons for Tom's reticence come to light

• Season 3 Episode 10: Peace For the Wicked

  Jodie, Steve and his brother Chris vow to keep quiet when Peter Orton dies from his injuries, but when the victim's father comes forward with information, Jim Oulton is horrified to discover his officers may have been involved. Elsewhere, Inspector Charlie Eden has her hands full when an unhappy child runs away because of her divorced parents' bitter fight for custody.   Animal rights activists cause a headache for the officers at Newton Park when they are suspected of waging a letter-bomb campaign against a medical research scientist : especially after an interview with the prime suspects reveals things are more complicated than they first seemed. • Season 3 Episode 8: The Thirty Third Degree

  Jim's efforts to assert his new-found authority during an assault investigation lead to a clash with Inspector Charlie Eden, while Larry receives a report of PC Steve Traynor's brother being kidnapped and badly beaten. The man responsible is discovered to be a racist thug who vows to exact revenge on whoever identified him, a move which prompts Larry to go on the warpath

• Season 3 Episode 7: Precious Illusions

  Jim's problems with his family cause him to sympathise with a father who is trying to find his estranged daughter, but his attempt to help backfires when he is called out to a domestic disturbance involving the warring pair. Meanwhile, Charlie raises a few eyebrows when she arrives at work in a limousine, claiming that she attended a hen night party

• Season 3 Episode 6: Only the Lonely

  Chief Constable Harvey offers Jim a new position, which he accepts in the knowledge that he will be able to promote Connie. The arrest of a shoplifter by new inspector Charlie Eden leads to tragedy for Steve, who falls asleep while on duty and fails to check up on the crook. The resulting incident puts two officers' careers in jeopardy and places Jim under enormous pressure

• Season 3 Episode 5: On Borrowed Time

  Jodie returns to work, only to discover she has been allocated light duties : fortunately her boredom is relieved when she ends up bailing Steve out of a spot of bother. Elsewhere, Susan's responsibilities are reduced as she becomes increasingly convinced she can no longer handle a career in the force : and the discovery of Chief Constable Harvey's attitude toward her only strengthens her decision to quit

• Season 3 Episode 4: Under the Cosh

  Jim finds himself torn between loyalty and lack of trust when he is placed in the unenviable position of having to interrogate his father about a murder, and a split-second decision could spell the end of Susan's career in the force. Drama, starring John McArdle and Haydn Gwynne
