A total of 16 anglers have come through a number of regional qualifiers to make it through to this event and will have their sights firmly set on the #25,000 first prize. The competitors will have to decide whether they should go for broke and target the lake's bigger species, which include carp, tench, chub and bream on the method feeder in order to boost their total weight, or use scaled-down tactics on the pole to catch a number of smaller fish which will include roach, rudd and perch. Recent history has proved that once a swim can be built-up, the heavier inhabitants of the pond will happily feed, giving the fishermen who have taken the risk a chance to bag-up. Rotherham's Rob Hitchens was crowned champion this time last year, landing a carp in the dying seconds to take the trophy. Also on the agenda will be a number of celebrity events, which have seen the likes of Steve Davis and Richie Woodall take part in previous years
