England were easy winners in last year's 'athletics Ashes', winning 10 of the 11 events that were staged, but the Aussies have returned with a strengthened team that is expected to provide a greater challenge in the pole vault, long jump, track sprints and road races

  Jonathan Edwards presents coverage of the third hosting of the Great North City Games, where Great Britain and Northern Ireland take on USA in a number of athletics events on the streets of Newcastle and Gateshead. The hosts recorded a narrow 5-4 win over Australia last year, with this year's 110m hurdles World Championship bronze medallist Andy Turner securing victory for the hosts by winning his specialist event in the final race.
