A police lab technician is stabbed to death in her home and while Brooks and Casey pursue their lead suspect, another woman is attacked in an identical fashion. The second victim survives and is able to identify her assailant, but she and Casey fall for each other - a relationship that threatens to damage both the CPS's case and the detective's career.
