Docu-drama about a prisoner who turned to cannibalism in 1820s Australia. Sentenced to seven years in Van Dieman's Land penal colony, Alexander Pearce and a group of fellow inmates soon escaped the harsh regime, but as starvation in the wilderness set in, they turned on each other as a means of survival. However, when captured, the authorities refused to believe the lone survivor's tale and sent him back - whereby he committed his crime all over again. Starring Adrian Dunbar
