The Professor and Brian play havoc with the university's weather system as they wait in the loft for the arrival of a messenger pigeon. The ensuing floods, fog and baking heat then hinder Alex's efforts to help his father establish whether he has found the missing diary of Captain Scott. Season 1 Episode 5: A Seven-Nighter
The team spend a week in a government research lab and, aided by several oil drums full of coffee and a tin of biscuits, try to stay awake without going mad. However, with the professor's peculiar underwear and the dean's insistence on spilling coffee on her jodhpurs, it proves significantly harder than they ever imagined. Chris Addison stars
Season 1 Episode 4: A Bee
The professor pursues a vendetta against great rival Dr Vaabit, whom he suspects has sabotaged his avocado plants. Alex and Cara get into difficulties trying to communicate with the bees they have secretly been farming in a filing cabinet. Mike McShane guest stars
