TV Special
Harvard professor Michael Sandel compares modern concepts of social justice and citizenship with the ideas of three leading thinkers from the Enlightenment and the Ancient World. He visits Boston, Berlin, London and Athens to explore the philosophies of Immanuel Kant, who did not believe in the legitimacy of killing one person to save a hundred others, Jeremy Bentham, who felt it could be acceptable to compromise on individual rights for the sake of the masses, and Aristotle, who thought people should get what they deserve
