Duvinder faces aggressive cross-examination by the notorious Gerald Lewis QC, who reveals the accused to be a martial arts champion with a record of violent attacks, but Cording counters by calling a surprise witness whose evidence places a dangerous psychopath at the crime scene. The jurors grapple with personal problems as well as events at the trial, as Elsie's discovery that she has cancer draws her closer to Charles, Mark Waters throws Jeremy a risky lifeline, and Johnnie reaches an agreement with Rose about their blossoming relationship : but Len is far from appeased.
