Joe's Palace

First in a pair of new dramas from writer-director Stephen Poliakoff centred around an old house with an intriguing past. Michael Gambon stars as its owner, a reclusive billionaire who chooses to live nearby, rather than making it his home. The building is cared for by a cleaner, whose teenage son (newcomer Danny Lee Wynter) becomes the sole link between the wealthy man and the outside world. Rupert Penry-Jones, Kelly Reilly and Rebecca Hall are among the supporting cast. The companion piece, Capturing Mary, starring Wynter alongside Maggie Smith, will be shown next week on BBC2
