  • Season 7 Episode 1: Gently with the Women

A prostitute turns up at the station claiming to have been raped, and as Gently looks back at past cases, he is shocked to discover that very few have been successfully prosecuted - if they made it to court in the first place. Risking animosity from his colleagues, he becomes suspicious when he notices the same police inspector's name appearing repeatedly in the files, but before he can act, the body of another rape victim is found, prompting a visit to the local brothel. Meanwhile, Bacchus has started an affair with Gemma, the wife of a fellow copper. Martin Shaw, Lee Ingleby and Lisa McGrillis star, with guest appearances from Denise Welch, Derek Riddell and Emily Woof

  • Season 6 Episode 4: Gently Going Under

Bacchus and Gently are called in to investigate the death of a miner, which is being treated as suspicious because even though his body was discovered down the pit, records show he was above ground when he disappeared. Alleged victim Arthur Hawkes was a proud union man, and his children confirm he fought long and hard to keep the closure-threatened mine open. But as the detectives dig deeper, they find that not everyone agrees with this portrait of him. Could he really have sold his union comrades down the river? Martin Shaw and Lee Ingleby star, with Simon Greenall, Jack Deam and Michael Socha

  • Season 6 Episode 3: Gently with Honour

A murder at a Turkish baths seems like an open-and-shut case, as witnesses put an ex-serviceman at the scene of the crime and the suspect has left his ID in a locker. But as Gently and Bacchus begin their search for the man, things soon become complicated. His psychiatrist reveals he was showing signs of schizophrenia, while his brother claims he was far too soft to have killed a man - and when a second body turns up, the duo are led into a world of medical secrets at an Army testing facility. Crime drama, starring Martin Shaw and Lee Ingleby, with William Ash and Jemma Redgrave

I recommend this series as a thoughtful, intelligent and believable drama. Unfortunately, the kind of ethics we see on this show is far from reality. Report abuse

This series is starting this week on Channel 21 in NY, yet locatetv says that it is not playing in the next 2 weeks. This is clearly an error. Makes it very hard to trust Report abuse
