Tubu women and children navigate the dunes of the Sahara in search of an oasis, and at the height of a drought, 2,000 men rush into Antogo Lake to catch the fish trapped by the evaporating water.     Mankind's ability to survive in extreme environments, featuring visits to locations in remote corners of the globe to see how people have adapted to their surroundings. The first episode focuses on the ingenuity of humans to survive in marine conditions, and provides an insight into the different techniques used by subsistence whalers in Indonesia, fishermen in northern Spain, Brazil and the Philippines, and the Bajau Laut sea gypsies, whose methods include hunting underwater using spears.
