Synopsis:
Series in which actors take on the role of great historians from past centuries, presenting TV adaptations of their books, starting with Samuel West as Lord Thomas Macaulay, who recounts the story of the Monmouth Rebellion from his 1849 book History of England. The uprising saw Charles II's illegitimate son attempt to oust James II from the throne, only to be decisively defeated and finally executed
