  Conclusion. A full-scale uprising is narrowly averted, but the king's reign continues to be dogged by intrigue and chicanery in the ensuing years. The action begins as Henry VII, on his deathbed, urges his 17-year-old son to take a wife who will bear him a male heir. However, first consort Katherine of Aragon produces only a daughter, and Henry's thoughts soon turn to wooing the strikingly beautiful Anne Boleyn - but not before he has seen off the Duke of Buckingham's attempts to reclaim the throne for the Plantaganets.
