When the mother of a disabled boy receives two years in prison for prostitution, her son is told he cannot stay with his stepfather due to the man's previous assault charge, and instead faces the prospect of being placed in a state-run facility. Nick sets out to keep the family together by tracking down the boy's biological father and demanding financial support, but the move backfires.
