Great North Run

Live coverage of the half-marathon between Newcastle and South Shields, a professional and amateur event which is now in its 28th year. The brainchild of former Olympian Brendan Foster has developed into Europe's biggest road race and the world's largest half-marathon, and will feature more than 50,000 competitors today. Past champions of the women's and men's events include Paula Radcliffe, Paul Tergat and last year's winners Martin Lel and Kara Goucher.
