• Season 1 Episode 8: Alicante

  Kevin McCloud travels to Spain to meet a family who have bought a plot of land in Alicante and plan to build a modern hexagonal 'super villa' with grounds that will be landscaped into a family playground. However, in their bid for a dream life, they have taken numerous risks - they do not speak Spanish and their business in London has yet to be sold to fund the ambitious project

  Kevin McCloud visits Les Gets in the French Alps, where local builders are having trouble understanding English couple James and Nicky's design brief - to transform a 300-year-old farmhouse into a luxurious eight-bedroom chalet

  Kevin McCloud meets a couple who bought a 1,000-year-old ruin in the Tuscan hills in 1999, hoping to transform it into their dream home. Having spent most of their time battling against Italian bureaucracy, they have just received approval for their plans - and the real work needs to begin in earnest if they are finally to create their own castle in the sky

  Kevin McCloud charts progress on an architect's plan to build a dream home in Westport, Co Mayo. Andrew Lohan has found a 150-year-old derelict church which he hopes to convert into an ultra-contemporary home for himself and his family. However, as he currently lives in Dublin, Andrew has his work cut out making sure that everything runs like clockwork, and ensuring his radical plans come to fruition

• Season 1 Episode 4: Creuse, France

  Kevin McCloud follows the progress of Denise Daniel and Doug Ibbs as they embark on a project to restore a dilapidated 19th-century manor house in the remote Creuse region of central France. He is concerned to discover they do not speak the language, plan to do most of the work themselves and only have enough money to survive for a year - after which they need to find paying guests

• Season 1 Episode 3: Puglia, Italy

  Kevin McCloud charts the progress of two artists who have moved to Puglia, Italy, where they are setting out to turn a derelict olive farm into a home and a luxurious summer school for fellow painters. Their ambitions are dented when their budget is reduced to £16,000, leaving them with no choice but to build it entirely by themselves, despite never having undertaken a similar project before

• Season 1 Episode 2: The Lot, France

  Kevin McCloud visits the French region of Lot, where Mark and Debbie Sampson are embarking on an ambitious project to create an open-framed house built partly out of straw bales. The couple moved to France eight years ago, but have never really felt at home, and their unorthodox plans could further alienate them from the locals

  Kevin McCloud visits Malaga, where he follows the progress of English architect Gil Briffa and wife Hilary. The couple have to put their trust in local Spanish builders to construct their vision of a dream contemporary home in the heart of a sleepy Andalusian community
