  • Day Four

Gary Lineker hosts live coverage from Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, as the leaders take to the course on the final day of the third Major of the year. The famous Claret Jug is the prize the players will have their sights on over the course of the afternoon and the crowd will be hoping for as much drama as that witnessed at Carnoustie last year. Andres Romero looked to be heading for his first Major title before destroying his chances by dropping three shots on the two final holes. That paved the way for Padraig Harrington and Sergio Garcia to battle it out in a play-off, which Harrington won by a single shot to become only the second Irish winner of the trophy in the tournament's 136-year history. Commentary by Peter Alliss, Ken Brown and Mark James

  • Day Four

Gary Lineker introduces live coverage of the final day's play at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, as the players lower down the leaderboard take to the course. There is a considerable prize fund on offer this weekend and a good score today is likely to prove hugely beneficial to the players' bank balance and Order of Merit standings. Former winner Ben Curtis was among the names who shot up the leaderboard on the final day last year, as his score of 65 elevated him to a tie of eighth place and earned him his second-highest finish in a Major. Commentary by Peter Alliss, Ken Brown and Mark James. Coverage continues on BBC1

  • Day Four

Gary Lineker hosts live coverage from Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, as the players take to the course on the final day of the third Major of the year. The famous Claret Jug is the prize the stars will have their sights on over the course of the afternoon and the crowd will be hoping for as much drama as that witnessed at Carnoustie last year. • Day One

Gary Lineker introduces live coverage of the opening day's play in the third Major of the year, staged at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport. This is the ninth time the course has hosted the prestigious event and the omens don't bode well for the British and European contingent, with the only golfers to win The Open here hailing from Australia and the USA. Padraig Harrington ended the European drought in Majors that stretched back to 1999 by winning at Carnoustie last year on one of the most dramatic final days in recent memory. The Irishman started the final day six shots adrift of Spain's Sergio Garcia, but an afternoon full of twists and turns ended with the duo finishing level on seven-under par, before Harrington went on to win the four-hole play-off. With commentary by Peter Alliss, Ken Brown and Sam Torrance

  • Day Three

Gary Lineker is at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport to present live coverage of the third day's play in the third Major of the year. This is the ninth time this famous links course has played host to the tournament and the first time since 1998, when Mark O'Meara was crowned champion. Fellow Americans David Duval, Ben Curtis, Todd Hamilton and Tiger Woods have all gone on to lift the Claret Jug since then, before Padraig Harrington offered a rare glimmer of hope for the Europeans when he prevailed at Carnoustie in 2007. The Irishman enjoyed a score of 68 on day three last year, just remaining in touch with early leader Sergio Garcia of Spain to set up a thrilling final round. Commentary by Peter Alliss, Ken Brown and Andrew Cotter

  • Day Three

Gary Lineker is at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport to present further live coverage of the third day's play in third Major of the year. Last year's champion Padraig Harrington enjoyed a score of 68 on day three at Carnoustie, just remaining in touch with early leader Sergio Garcia to set up a thrilling final round. Commentary by Peter Alliss, Ken Brown and Wayne Grady.

  • Day Three

Gary Lineker presents further live coverage of the third day's play at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, where the players are set to bring their rounds to a close. Steve Stricker had made little impression on the leaderboard by the halfway stage of last year's tournament at Carnoustie, but a sensational score of 64 on day three was enough to put him in contention going into the final day. European Ryder Cup team-mates Sergio Garcia and Padraig Harrington were also in good shape, each shooting rounds of 68 to enhance their chances of clinching their first Major title. Commentary by Peter Alliss, Ken Brown and Andrew Cotter

  • Day Two

Gary Lineker is at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport to present live coverage of the second day's play in The Open, where the players are aiming to make the halfway cut. Several notable names missed the final two days last year after failing to make an impression in the opening two rounds, with Phil Mickelson, Colin Montgomerie, Henrik Stenson and Geoff Ogilvy among those who didn't do enough to feature in the weekend's events. The last time the Major was staged here was back in 1998, when Mark O'Meara continued the fine run by Americans in the tournament, winning a play-off against compatriot Brian Watts after posting a level-par total after 72 holes. The American contingent will be out in force once again, despite the absence of the injured Tiger Woods, and the likes of Mickelson, Stewart Cink and Jim Furyk will have high hopes of winning their first Open Championship. With commentary by Peter Alliss, Ken Brown and Wayne Grady
