Day Two
Gary Lineker is at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport to present live coverage of the second day's play in The Open, where the players are aiming to make the halfway cut. Several notable names missed the final two days last year after failing to make an impression in the opening two rounds, with Phil Mickelson, Colin Montgomerie, Henrik Stenson and Geoff Ogilvy among those who didn't do enough to feature in the weekend's events. The last time the Major was staged here was back in 1998, when Mark O'Meara continued the fine run by Americans in the tournament, winning a play-off against compatriot Brian Watts after posting a level-par total after 72 holes. The American contingent will be out in force once again, despite the absence of the injured Tiger Woods, and the likes of Mickelson, Stewart Cink and Jim Furyk will have high hopes of winning their first Open Championship. With commentary by Peter Alliss, Ken Brown and Wayne Grady
