    Racial tensions erupt in Hastings when a black GI is suspected of murdering a white woman. The victim, an ex-lover of the suspect and the mother of his baby, was staying at a local guest house where Samantha is assistant manager, and had been disowned by her family because of her mixed-race child. As Foyle investigates, he is not convinced the soldier could be capable of such a brutal crime, and soon comes up against the might of the US army as he tries to crack the case.   • Season 7 Episode 1: The Russian House

    It is July 1945 and, as Britain settles into peacetime, Foyle looks forward to retirement, while Samantha is working as a housekeeper. But the detective has to put his plans on hold when Sam's employer, eminent artist Sir Leonard Spencer-Jones, is found dead. Suspicion initially falls on Niko, a young Russian PoW whom the victim had taken under his wing. Niko flees the Sussex coast and heads for a sanctuary in London, closely followed by Foyle, who has been sent to track him down by the War Office. But the investigation soon brings to light a conspiracy and an international cover-up which, if exposed, could bring down the British government. Max Brown joins the cast, with Michael Kitchen, Honeysuckle Weeks, Anthony Howell, Eleanor Bron and Christopher Good
