• Does Healing Work?

  Last of three specials on alternative therapies. People suffering from chronic illness place themselves into the hands of spiritual healer Maureen Ramm, in an experiment to test controversial claims that faith can produce success where conventional medicine fails. As their treatments get under way, their doctor visits another healer who claims to have cured himself of cancer, so will the GP be surprised by this experiment's results?

• Does Meditation Work?

  A group of Wigan factory workers put the power of meditation to the test, as nine members of staff are guided by guru Paul Darby through a series of exercises designed to reduce stress by controlling their breathing and thoughts. Although many of the group approached the exercise with considerable scepticism, they were filmed over a period of three months to see if the process had any benefits : will the results surprise anyone?

• Does Prayer Work?

  First of three programmes investigating spiritual activities, chronicling the biggest multi-faith experiment ever undertaken, as 750 people with heart problems in hospitals across the USA took part in the trial to find out if prayer really can help heal the sick. Religious groups from around the world became involved in the test, including Buddhists in Nepal, Sufi Muslims in Africa and Christians in Manchester, and scientists monitored the results in a bid to discover if participants recovered more quickly
