  Mannion and his team track down a racial criminal after a black prostitute is found murdered with a slogan attached to her body, and Parras faces a family crisis when her father is arrested for requesting the services of a call girl.   Mannion is furious when budget cuts mean he has to start making his officers redundant and resolves to tackle an influential commissioner about the issue, putting his own job on the line in the process. • Season 3 Episode 15: Back in the Saddle

  Debreno is assigned to protect a country singer who has been receiving death threats and Mannion tries to set a good example by going back on the streets as a uniformed officer, but a seemingly routine arrest has surprising consequences. Jonathan LaPaglia stars

  A visiting doctor raises concerns that a foreign criminal who was brought in for questioning may be suffering from the Ebola virus, meaning the whole office has to be quarantined. Mannion finds himself unable to leave the building and has to rely on Ella to keep the peace, while concerns grow for Temple and Brander, who both came into contact with the infected man

  A student brags about committing the perfect murder, but his confession isn't caught on tape, meaning Mannion and the team have to find the evidence to convict him. Meanwhile, Kendall tries to end her affair with a married man

• Season 3 Episode 11: Good-Bye, Jenny

  Mannion tries to help a woman who is dying from an Aids-related illness by making her final days as pleasant as possible and organising an event to raise awareness of HIV. Meanwhile, suspicion falls on Parras when a stash of cocaine is replaced with sugar. Craig T Nelson stars

• Season 3 Episode 10: Small Packages

  The team face an eventful Christmas Eve as Mannion vows to keep Santa's promise to an eight-year-old boy and Parras bonds with an abandoned newborn baby. Temple and Debreno go in search of three dwarves who have been committing robberies while disguised as elves, and a goat disappears from a Nativity play

• Season 3 Episode 9: Return of the King

  Temple is the first officer on the scene when the body of a champion boxer's wife is discovered in a hotel room, and as his past relationship with the victim comes to light, he finds he is also the prime suspect. Back at the station, a custodial worker is found to be using a false identity. Sean Patrick Thomas stars

• Season 3 Episode 8: Free-Fire Zone

  A journalist accuses Mannion of being a war criminal, claiming he ordered the deaths of 18 innocent people in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Temple and Debreno go in search of a teenager they fear is about to commit murder so he can be accepted into a local gang

• Season 3 Episode 7: The Second Man

  Noland shoots a student he thinks is about to rob a shop, but faces disciplinary procedures when the subsequent investigation reveals the victim was unarmed. Mannion refuses to suspend his officer, but as the boy's wealthy parents begin clamouring for justice, the police start to really feel the pressure

• Season 3 Episode 6: Old Wounds

  Mannion is dealt a case of deja vu when an old enemy, who avoided being imprisoned for murder 25 years previously, crosses his path again

• Season 3 Episode 5: Faith

  Mannion and the team investigate the shooting of a priest at a funeral, but when their inquiries unearth accusations of sexual abuse against the clergyman, the chief is not convinced the cleric was the real target

• Season 3 Episode 4: Drug Money

  A series of chemists are robbed and large quantities of Aids medication are taken, prompting Mannion to launch an investigation. Temple frets over an impending drugs test, knowing he used cocaine while undercover, and Debreno reluctantly takes part in a charity auction, only to be 'bought' by a sexy mayoral candidate

• Season 3 Episode 3: Explicit Activities

  The investigation into the murder of an 11-year-old girl turns up the child's photo on an illegal site, prompting Mannion to seek help from the Attorney General to toughen legislation against Internet child pornography. In a separate case, high-profile lawyer Vanessa Cavanaugh accuses an officer of using excessive force. Ving Rhames and Jaclyn Smith guest star

• Season 3 Episode 2: Oil and Water

  Part two of two. Chief Mannion continues his private investigation into his attempted murder, and Paris follows a man with connections to the under-secretary of state. Temple has to deal with his own problems when a conflict with a rookie cop turns into an ethical dilemma, while he struggles to hide his drug addiction

• Season 3 Episode 1: Resurrection

  Part one of two. After shooting Mannion, Erin is run over by a car while fleeing the crime scene. She manages to escape but the entire police department think the chief is dead and start searching for his body. Ving Rhames guest stars

The District: Season 2 (2001 - 2002)

• Season 2 Episode 22: Payback

  Mannion pulls out all the stops as the gangster wars rage out of control. Temple goes undercover, but when he is forced to take cocaine to convince suspicious thugs he's not a cop, ghosts from his drug-filled past return to haunt him. Ella turns down a proposal, and Erin Vratalov has a surprise in store for an old enemy. Last in series

• Season 2 Episode 21: Convictions

  Debreno's troubled past comes back to haunt him when he is called as a witness on the Eduardo Castillo case and has to prove he didn't plant evidence. Things go from bad to worse when Mannion also testifies, and is arrested after snapping at the judge and lawyer. Meanwhile, strange noises convince Ella her office has a resident ghost, until she finds out where they are coming from

• Season 2 Episode 20: The Killing Point

  Mannion and his team have just 48 hours to save an innocent man from death row and hope priest Patrick Debreno can get the culprit to confess where the murder weapon was concealed in time to save his life. Drama, starring Craig T Nelson

• Season 2 Episode 19: Shell Game

  The team wrangle with the CIA for information while investigating a death, and Mannion traces the killing to a former computer software company worker, but it isn't long before he has another dead body on his hands. Meanwhile, Ella comes close to buying the house of her dreams. Craig T Nelson and Lynne Thigpen star

• Season 2 Episode 18: Shades of Gray

  Politics come into play when Mannion clashes with Commander Richard Gray over spiralling crime rates in District Nine. The beleaguered boss finally hands in his notice, but sparks a mass resignation from his loyal officers. Craig T Nelson stars

  Mannion assigns Debreno and new detective Olivia Cahill to work together on the case of a missing Picasso, Nancy's mother announces her marriage is over and Ella worries about the recurrence of her breast cancer

• Season 2 Episode 16: The Greenhouse Effect

  Mannion's friend Teddy Reed is the only witness to a Congressman's murder, and he fears she's lying about what she saw. The city erects a statue depicting a heroic act by three police officers including Cutter - who is angered when his figure is altered to represent someone of a different race. Joanna Cassidy guest stars

• Season 2 Episode 15: Daughter for Daughter

  Mannion's daughter Beth is kidnapped, forcing him into another confrontation with Putin, but everything changes when the CIA informs Mannion that his enemy's daughter has also disappeared and Beth has been charged with her murder

• Season 2 Episode 14: Wasteland

  A woman takes members of the Board of Education hostage in a bid to highlight her belief that something is causing diseases in people within her neighbourhood, giving Mannion just eight hours to come up with hard evidence

• Season 2 Episode 13: This Too Shall Pass

  Temple and Debreno are called in to investigate after a local TV reporter is murdered and her body dumped in an abandoned building

• Season 2 Episode 12: Twist of Hate

  A wave of race-hate crimes hits Washington when a mosque is set on fire : and before long, Jews, blacks and Muslims are putting pressure on Mannion to provide special protection. Meanwhile, Ella faces a similar problem on a smaller scale when Ricky is targeted by a school bully

• Season 2 Episode 11: Russian Winter

  Mannion holds Erin Vratalov on suspicion of killing a man and is shocked to learn she has vital information about the death of Detective McGregor. Temple and his brother discuss their lives and how they could have been different, while Clive asks Ella to have dinner with him. Gregory Alan Williams and Alla Korot star
