Drama directed by acclaimed film-maker Stephen Frears, chronicling the enduring and complex relationship between Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Since 1997, these two men have almost exclusively determined British politics on both domestic and foreign soil, and have formed one of the most influential political double acts of recent years, which Cabinet ministers speak of in terms of a marriage : yet there have been persistent rumours of resentment and rivalry. The film traces the roots of the pair's love-hate partnership back to 1994 following the death of Labour leader John Smith when Gordon Brown was beaten into second place by his 'protege' Tony Blair.
