Disaffected wife Pauline Quirke reluctantly accompanies her hubbie to his friends' rural retreat in France, where she meets similarly disenchanted Francesca Annis and her partner. While the mismatched couples successfully manage to rub each other up the wrong way, one of the women accidentally bumps off her other half, plunging all and sundry into a holiday from hell.
