D-Day: The Ultimate Conflict

Documentary telling the story of the critical World War Two offensive, profiling the scientists who worked behind the scenes to create an assortment of unusual machines for the Allied landings. The devices featured include wooden boats capable of transporting tanks, which were in turn fitted with flotation equipment and propellers so they could be deployed three miles out to sea and make their own way inland. Other tanks were given 'flails' to detonate mines and jagged teeth to shred barbed wire. Finally, to ensure the paratroopers would have the element of surprise, they were to be dropped from experimental, virtually silent gliders
