  A man who has served 18 years in prison for murder discovers he has grounds to reopen the case, forcing Catherine to re-examine the original investigation. The felon claims his conviction was based on flimsy evidence, and that there were gaps in Catherine's work - her first solo effort - and the modern lab techniques used in revisiting the case appear to back that up.   Hodges and Wendy indulge a shared guilty pleasure when they attend a sci-fi convention, but the event is promptly disrupted by the murder of a TV producer in attendance.   A busy night in Las Vegas sees the team called to three crime scenes - the apparently unrelated murders of an art dealer, an actor's wife and a private detective. As the investigation uncovers a trail involving bogus antiques, a misfiring gun and sibling rivalry, the team discovers the incidents are all connected to a conman with multiple identities. Smallville's John Schneider guest stars

• Season 9 Episode 14: Miscarriage of Justice

  A violent suicide interrupts a trial in which a respected congressman is accused of murdering his mistress. When the CSIs investigate, a note found on the body causes them to doubt their previous assessment of the case. Crime drama, starring Laurence Fishburne and Robert David Hall

  Langston and Nick investigate the death of a fast-food restaurant manager in what appears to be a robbery gone wrong.   Catherine and Langston join Brass at the scene of a gruesome murder at a petrol station, where a federal agent has been beaten to death. The victim's partners, who were working undercover with him to close down a human-trafficking ring, promise to co-operate in the search for the killer - but as the investigation continues, the team suspects the two officers are not all they seem. • Season 9 Episode 11: The Grave Shift

  New recruit Langston faces a steep learning curve on his first day with the team as a routine burglary call is interrupted by an explosion at a couple's home. It appears that the husband died in the blast, but tests reveal he was murdered before the fire started and there are several suspects, including his adulterous wife. Langston impresses his colleagues by working out how the unusual detonating device was created

• Season 8 Episode 15: The Theory of Everything

  A prisoner bursts into flames when officers shoot him with pepper spray and a taser as he tries to escape, and a woman is shot dead then redressed and put in the back of a truck. A woman at the front desk is convinced an alien invasion is coming and incidents at the lab only fuel this belief. US crime drama, starring George Eads, Paul Guilfoyle and William Petersen

• Season 8 Episode 14: Drops Out

  Two women are found dead in neighbouring apartments, both owned by incarcerated nightclub promoter 'Drops', and it seems the best way to catch the killer is to enlist the inmate's help outside the prison's confines. When a third female is murdered, evidence points towards the daughter of the first victim - a woman pregnant with his child. But, as CCTV casts doubt on the theories, 'Drops' gets away

• Season 8 Episode 13: A Thousand Days on Earth

  The body of a three-year-old girl is discovered in a cardboard box laid out as if in a coffin and left outside a comedy club. Unable to identify the child formally, Catherine is deeply upset by the investigation, which eventually leads to a group of convicts and their families who met while the men were incarcerated. • Season 8 Episode 12: Grissom's Divine Comedy

  The burned body of a witness in a high-profile trial is found in a car, but the autopsy proves the cause of death was a gunshot wound. As the court case approaches its conclusion, the team must identify the murderer within 52 hours, or the accused goes free and double jeopardy means he cannot be retried. All of this, and Grissom is battling the flu. American crime drama, starring William Petersen

• Season 8 Episode 11: Bull

  The death of a professional bull-rider turns out to be far more complicated than it seems when the victim's prostitute girlfriend is also killed in an apparent hit-and-run. The discovery of equipment used to artificially stimulate the production of bull semen adds a financial motive for the suspected homicides, but nothing is as it seems when a third person is shot dead at close range. Featuring appearances by music stars Jewel and Shooter Jennings

• Season 8 Episode 10: Lying Down With Dogs

  A respected socialite is found murdered in a pile of decomposing dogs after attending a function where Dr Robbins' band provided the music, a case which leads the team to the world of illegal canine fighting. Warrick struggles to prove he did not kill stripper Joanna, whose body was found in his car, but crosses the line once too often in his pursuit of mobster Lou Gedda

• Season 8 Episode 9: Cockroaches

  A police chase involving a speeding rubbish truck leads the team to two bodies. Warrick has a very bad day when he finds evidence that the dead pair are a hitman and his victim. He unearths clues pointing to a well-known mobster, and convinced of his guilt, the CSI goes it alone at the accused man's strip club to get the proof he needs. Crime drama, starring Gary Dourdan

• Season 8 Episode 8: You Kill Me

  Hodges tests his lab technician colleagues with a series of hypothetical murder cases they have to investigate by playing CSIs. Meanwhile, the team tries to help Grissom deal with Sara's shock departure, advising him to go after her and declare his love. Drama starring William Petersen

• Season 8 Episode 7: Goodbye & Good Luck

  A girl plunges to her death from her university dorm room and the suspected suicide becomes a murder case when the team's investigation finds blood on a window hinge and fingerprints that match those of a teenager previously acquitted of murder. The case dredges up painful memories for Sara, who finds herself questioning her future as she goes up against a former foe. Drama, starring Jorja Fox

• Season 8 Episode 6: Who & What

  In a cross-over episode with drama Without a Trace, Grissom and the team work with the FBI Missing Person's unit after a woman and a boy are found dead in an apartment, and it is thought the youngster may be a child kidnapped from New York six years earlier. • Season 8 Episode 5: The Chick Chop Flick Shop

  An actress is found murdered on a movie set, an axe in her back. Suspicion falls on the studio bosses who could make huge profits from the publicity surrounding the tragedy because of its similarities to several of their adult horror pictures. When Ronnie returns to the set to look for her misplaced mobile phone, she has her own terrifying experience

• Season 8 Episode 4: The Case of the Cross-Dressing Carp

  A teenager saving money to fund a sex change is found stabbed and hanged from a tree. The victim's phone leads the team to a hydrologist the youngster had been helping, but before they get a chance to interview him he is murdered too. Meanwhile, Ronnie is excited at the possibility that her latest case could be a Sixties Mob hit when a body is found in a recently demolished hotel

• Season 8 Episode 3: Go to Hell

  A couple are murdered in a seedy hotel room. Evidence shows their daughter was with them but is now missing, while fingerprints lead to a convicted sex offender - a self-styled clergyman - and the discovery of another daughter's existence. Elsewhere, Sara is assigned to train a new recruit as she investigates the death of an unidentified homeless man whose demise is not as straightforward as it first seems

  Grissom investigates an apparent electrocution at a casino, but discovers the case is a hoax staged to distract attention from the theft of valuable Japanese antiquities.
