Exams are just around the corner for the children and the men live in the reality of the coalfield, where pit closures are normal and poor wages all too common

  Life becomes harder for the mining men of Coal House when they attempt to master new skills, and their wages becomes linked to their performance. When the wives and children back home enjoy Hallowe'en celebrations, the families realise their extravagance may have left them verging on bankrupcy. Repeated tomorrow
