Richard Eyre commemorates the centenary of the death of Anton Chekhov by tracing the origins of the Moscow Art Theatre, with which the Russian dramatist was closely associated. The idea for the project came during a lunch between director Konstantin Stanislavsky and playwright Vladimir Nemirovich Danchenko, with Chekhov's The Seagull being the first production
