The history of Lincoln Cathedral, revealing how its destruction during an earthquake in 1185 inspired Henry II to change his corrupt ways. The king had previously turned a healthy profit by plundering the cathedral's revenues, but became convinced the disaster was God's way of expressing disapproval. Enlisting a simple French monk as the new bishop, Henry set out to create a vision of heaven on earth for the medieval world - and maybe get back in the Almighty's good books
